BSc in Mathematics and Science Education

To be eligible for admission, candidates shall satisfy the following requirements:

Five GCE ‘O’ Level credits or better in the Zambian School Certificate or its approved equivalent as follows: English Language, Mathematics, and either One or Two of the following subjects: Physical Science or Science, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. Physical Science and Science count as one subject. In addition, applicants may be required to have GCE ‘O’ Level credits or better in any two of the following subjects:

  • Combined Science
  • Additional Mathematics
  • Geography
  • Geometrical and Mechanical Drawing
  • History
  • Literature in English
  • Human and Social Biology
  • A Zambian Language
  • Commerce
  • Principles of Accounts
  • Religious Education
  • Agricultural Science
  • Computer Science

Candidates who are holders of the Diploma in Education or other Mathematics and Science teaching Diploma of this University or Institutions recognised by this University may be exempted from the first year of the BSc programme.

BSc Computer Science, Bachelor of Information technology & Diploma in Information Technology


Applicants should satisfy the following requirements:

  1. At least ordinary passes in Mathematics, English Language, Science or Physical Science or Chemistry & Physics. These are compulsory.
  2. Two subjects from: Biology, Additional Mathematics, Geography, Geometrical & Mechanical drawing, History, Literature in English, Human & Social Biology, a Zambian Language, Commerce, Principles of Accounts, a Religious subject, Agricultural Science & Computer Science.

BSc. Non-quota


The University introduced a BSc Non-quota system. Applicants will be enrolled in the SMNS in their 1st year.

Under this enrolment scheme, students study the fundamental disciplines in the 1st year as preparation to pursue various degrees in Medicine, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Engineering.
