World Health Organization Country Representative visit to Copperbelt University, Michael Chilufya Sata School of Medicine.
The World Health Organization Country Representative (WR) for Zambia, Dr Nathan Bakyaita, visited the School of Medicine (SOM) on 21st February 2018. The purpose of the visit was for the recently deployed WR to Zambia to familiarize himself with the activities in the school. It’s important to remember that the World Health organization Country office (WCO) under the former WR, Dr Olusegun Babaniyi, played a key role in 2010 in the establishment of the school before it was opened the following year. Therefore the current WR saw it fit to visit the school upon his posting to Zambia. The WR and his entourage were received by the Dean of the school, Professor Seter Siziya and members of staff of the school. The visitors were then taken around the new campus by the Dean. The WR was able to see the state of art training dental equipment in the Dental Department and the newly constructed Basic Sciences Department laboratories namely, Microbiology, Immunology, Parasitology, Physiology, Pathology, Anatomy, and Biochemistry/Pharmacology. At the end of the tour the WR addressed the members of staff and encouraged them to forge ahead with academic and research activities in the school. He assured them of continued WCO support in both activities.
