The Department of Social Studies is one of the latest departments in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at The Copperbelt University. Currently, the department offers Hospitality and Tourism Management Programme at degree level which lasts for four years. Mode of delivery for the programme is on full-time and evening basis. There are also workshops and short courses pertaining to Hospitality and Tourism Management which are offered depending on the need from the industry. Hospitality and Tourism Management building is put up at the university’s premises located at 60 Kuomboka Drive in Parklands, Kitwe. Students are offered excellent conditions for study in Hospitality and Tourism Management through provision of classroom accommodation and other facilities for demonstrating practical work. The surrounding of the place offers a good location for social gatherings. The department strives to keep abreast with academic standards. This is why department is open to new ideas that spur its development. It envisages teaching to be informed by findings in basic and applied social studies. Members of the Department are aware of the need to publish regularly in journals and collected works and present at local and international conferences
