MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN

Welcome to the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Copperbelt University.

The School was created to meet the needs of the Zambian cultural transformation and enlist the active participation of various stakeholders to create classical and modern music, art, sport, indigenous knowledge, the extended family system, culture of peace reciprocity, interdependence, respect, friendliness, ethnic diversity, traditional foods, cuisine among others, environmental and economic governance as well as local government administration. The School was established to offer international standard program for local and international students.

To quote Michelle Obama, Former First Lady of the United States of America, “The arts and humanities define who we are as a people. That is their power, to remind us of what we each have to offer, and what we all have in common. To help us understand our history and imagine our future. To give us hope in the moments of struggle and to bring us together”. To the students joining our School for the first time I wish, on behalf of the School, to welcome you heartily and assure you an experience that you will cherish the rest of your life. At the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, we pride in qualified and vibrant members of staff, both academic and non-academic, who all do their best to help mold our students into persons who at the end of their study are well qualified to contribute positively to society especially in the areas which the School gives special emphasis, namely community service, research, entrepreneurship, innovation and industrialization.
