Student bodies have welcomed the government initiative to regulate the cyberspace. Copperbelt University Students Union-COBUSU- President Lawrence Kasonde says government must enact the cyber crimes bill to protect citizens who have been maligned on various social media platforms. In an interview with ZNBC News, Kasonde said social media today can be a source of confusion as the country goes to the polls. He said students believe that the cyber crimes and security bill is important because it will enhance the country’s democracy and give confidence to citizens to freely engage in national affairs. And COBUSU Academics minister David Bukolo has called on Members of Parliament to research thoroughly on the bill. Bukolo said stakeholders must ensure that all concerns surrounding the subject can be attended to before the bill is passed into law.
