VICE CHANCELLOR PAYS COURTESY CALL ON COPPERBELT PROVINCIAL MINISTER ELISHA MATAMBO


In his first official visit to the office of the Copperbelt Provincial Minister since taking office in May 2024, The Copperbelt University (CBU) Vice Chancellor, Professor Imasiku Nyambe, paid a courtesy call on Hon. Elisha Matambo, MP.

During the meeting, Professor Nyambe shared his vision of transforming the university and alleviating the challenges it faces, with the aim of positioning CBU as a premier institution of higher learning.

Professor Nyambe outlined plans to enhance CBU’s infrastructure, academic offerings, and student services, with a focus on creating a conducive environment for both learning and research. He emphasized the importance of unity within the university community and stressed his commitment to working closely with stakeholders to build a better future for the institution.

In response, Hon. Matambo expressed his strong support for the Vice Chancellor’s vision and pledged to champion the development initiatives aimed at improving CBU.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to education, noting that President Hakainde Hichilema places great importance on education as a key tool for societal progress and economic development.

“The President views education as an equalizer and a fundamental pillar of development,” Hon. Matambo stated.

He further urged Professor Nyambe to focus on uniting the CBU community, bringing together staff, students, and stakeholders to work collaboratively toward common goals.

Hon. Matambo emphasized that fostering unity is essential for achieving the university’s objectives and creating a harmonious working and learning environment.

The meeting highlights the shared commitment between CBU and the government to advance the university’s role in driving Zambia’s socio-economic development. With the Provincial Minister’s backing, CBU is poised to embark on a new chapter of growth and transformation.
