ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS

Patricia holds an LLB Degree (1987) from the University of Zambia and an LLM Degree (1995) from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.  In 2008 Patricia was awarded a Degree of Doctor of Philosophy by the University of Edinburgh in Scotland after submitting a Thesis on the Powers of Arbitrators in International Commercial Arbitration.  Patricia holds dual admission to the Bar.  She was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court for Zambia in 1988 and also admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 2004 after studying at the College of Law in London. 

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Apart from her keen interest in studying, Patricia has vast work experience in Government, Private sector and Academia.  She serves as a member of the Institute of Directors.  She has served as Assistant Senior State Advocate, which position exposed her to prosecution.  As a Managing Partner in private practice, Patricia worked with eminent clients dealing with both criminal and civil work and represented them up to the Supreme Court level respectively.  Public service and private practice have enabled Patricia have a rare opportunity of holding experience from both sides of the Bar.  The pro bono work that Patricia was involved in at the Citizens’ Advice Bureau (Scotland) and at the Legal Aid Clinic (Zambia), enabled her champion women’s rights.Patricia has vast experience in Academia and is currently serving as lecturer and Head of Department.  Her work has seen her sit on various Boards and Committees.  She is actively engaged in research and has had occasion to present a number of papers at Conferences and Workshops.  Patricia has supervised students up to Ph.D level of study.   She prides herself as being ‘well read’.  Patricia takes confidentiality, time management and effective communication as being of the essence in delivering
