Emelda Miyanda Hachoofwe (PhD)

Biography

Emelda is a lecturer at the Copperbelt University in Zambia. She has worked in forestry and wildlife related positions for 15 years. Her research interests are, the role of Governance in biodiversity conservation, Ecology, Agroforestry and Natural resource management regimes and their linkages to livelihoods. Climate change challenge on livelihoods and the role of indigenous knowledge to climate change adaptation.

Based on her extensive academic background my area of expertise revolves around understanding the management, conservation, and sustainable use of forests, wildlife, fisheries and their resources, particularly in the context of supporting livelihoods, sustainable development, and public policy. She also has strong understanding of how ecological practices can be integrated into broader natural resources management strategies to achieve both environmental and socioeconomic objectives.

Additionally, a PhD in Public and Development Management has expanded her understanding of how to manage environmental and Natural Resources projects within the context of broader development goals, considering issues such as policy, governance, and community engagement. She excel in roles that involve research, policy formulation, project management, and consulting within the forestry, agroforestry wildlife, ecology, biodiversity, mining, climate change and development sectors.

The greatest strength of her academic and research background is having the ability to do research in a transdisciplinary space which transcend disciplinary boundaries. Which is current and future approach to dealing with the worlds current challenges climate change at the center of it.
