Biography
Ramasamy Subbaya received his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Madras in 2002. He graduated with his Master of Science in Microbiology from Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli, in 2004. Then he completed his Master of Technology in the field of Biotechnology at Sathyabama University, Chennai, in the year 2009. He completed his Ph.D degree from Sathyabama University in 2016. Ever since, his research work has been directed to the field of Nanobiotechnology.
His area of interest also includes Microbiology, Nanobiotechnology, Biogas, Biofuel and Waste Management. He started his career as a Microbiologist at Swathi Aqua, Thiruvallur and later on he moved to the academic institution as a Lecturer and served as Assistant Professor. He is having more than 15 years of Teaching Experience. He is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, The Copperbelt University, Kitwe, Zambia.
To his credit, He has Received a “Young Scientist Award” from “Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology”, Chennai in the year of 2011 Ref No: TNSCST/YSFS/VR/5/2010-2011and he has Received “Outstanding Best Paper Award” From “Nature Science Foundation Coimbatore” for the Research paper entitled “Synthesis of bioactive compounds from vermicast isolated actinomycetes species and its antimicrobial activity against human pathogenic bacteria” Microbial Pathogenesis. (2018), Vol. 121, pp. 155-165.
Received “The IET Premium Awards 2019” for the Research paper entitled “Biomimetic synthesis of silver nanoparticles from Streptomyces atrovirens and their potential anticancer activity against human breast cancer cells”, IET-Nanobiotechnology
He had received the funded project from AICTE, Title of the Project: “Mass Production of Antibiotics from Streptomyces spp. for Biomedical Applications through Bioprocess Engineering” Ref. No: 20/AICTE/RIFD/RPS/(POLICY- III) 35/2012-13. Sanctioned amount: Rs.8,60,000/-
In addition to that he received the funded project from AICTE MODROBS, Title of the Project: “Large Scale production of antibiotics through modernization of bioreactors and accessories in the Bioprocess Engineering and Technology Laboratory” Ref. No: 9-83/RIFD/MODROBS/Policy-1/2016-17. Sanctioned amount:Rs. 14,00,000/-
Moreover, he Received the fund from Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Gujarat (Under DST-NIMAT Project) Government of India, New Delhi, sponsored ENTREPRENEURSHIP AWARENESS CAMP (EAC) – to conduct Two camps in the year of August – 2019.
He had filed two Indian patents, published more than 82 Research and Review articles in reputed journals with a cumulative impact factor of above 352, and published 10 Book chapters to his credit. He is serving as a Reviewer for several Indexed Journals. Presented papers and attended more than 30 National and International Conferences. He is also a life member of the Society for Biotechnology and Indian Lichenological Society. Life Member in Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE).
