In 2019, the Copperbelt University donated twenty (20) computers to Chati South Boarding School, a school located in the outskirts of Kalulushi in the Copperbelt Province. The donation was made during the official visit to the school by the President his excellence Dr Edgar C. Lungu.
On Thursday , 15th APRIL, 2021, the Acting Director in the Directorate of ICT (DICT) at the Copperbelt University led a team of two Hardware experts to Chati South Boarding School were they conducted a repair and maintenance program on the donated computers. Seven (7) out of the twenty (20) computers had malfunctioned and the team managed to salvage four (4) out of the seven (7). The functional thirteen computers underwent some maintenance, both hardware and software. The School seconded nine grade 10 pupils who participated in the maintenance program. They were taught by Mr Shupa Musuka and Mr Chesa Soko, basic routine maintenance procedures using one computer and they used the acquired knowledge to carry maintenance exercise on the remaining twelve (12) computers all by themselves.
The Headmaster at the School, Mr Siachisumo expressed appreciation for the gesture from CBU and the Director Dr N Chaamwe, promised the head that the Copperbelt University through the Directorate of ICT, will always be available to assist the school in any way possible as the School integrates ICTs in learning and teaching.
