COPPERBELT UNIVERSITY AND ASTRIA LEARNING LAUNCHES eCAMPUS

The Copperbelt University in collaboration with Astria Learning has launched its ecampus online mode of study in various post graduate programmes.

Speaking during the event, Kitwe District Commissioner Mr. Binwell Mpundu said this facility is a deliberate move to provide education to all Zambians especially those in full time employment.

 “Online Open and Distance Learning system is particularly appropriate for individuals who for variety of reasons cannot attend a conventional school, college or university. This includes geographically dispersed individuals in areas where traditional learning is impossible. For this reason, Open and Distance Education is the future direction of teaching and learning in Zambia.” Said Mr. Mpundu

Copperbelt University Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Roy Chileshe said the University is committed to developing strategies aimed at providing quality education through easily accessible and flexible means such as the eCampus platform.

“In response to the environmental, social, economic and technological dynamics, Zambia’s higher education institutions are expanding with pedagogical activities changing at quite a fast pace. The Copperbelt University is proactively involved in implementing creative and interactive ideas of teaching and learning.” He said.

Astria Learning Chief executive officer Dr Jeff Bordes commended the Copperbelt University for partnering with Astria learning in providing an interactive teaching platform to the masses.

“We are happy to be part of this great milestone which will accord many an opportunity to access education anytime, anywhere.” Said Dr Bordes

And Copperbelt University Director of Distance Education and open learning, Dr Donald Chungu, said that providing postgraduate education through the utilization of ICT as aligned in the 7th National Development Plan has enormous institutional and national benefits.

The eCampus platform is been rolled out through the Copperbelt University Directorate of Distance Education and open learning (DDEOL) in collaboration with Astria Learning.

The eCampus brings together international and local experts to deliver various postgraduate studies. Some of the programmes on eCampus include;

  • MSc – Economics
  • MBA – General
  • MBA – Finance
  • MSc – Peace and Conflict Studies
  • Postgraduate Diploma in education leadership and teaching methodology
  • MSc – Project Management

On account of the partnership and collaboration with Astria Learning, CBU is confident in finding ICT related solutions, enrolment and retention of International students.
