She teaches ‘Climate Science’, and ‘Environmental Management’. Justine, is also a thematic coordinator for ‘Monitoring Biodiversity and Ecosystem Impacts’ on a World Bank funded project, ‘Copperbelt University Africa Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Mining’ (CBUACESM). In addition to teaching and coordination responsibilities, Justine is a consultant on forestry, environmental, and policy issues. Justine is also a researcher focusing her work on understanding the interaction between vegetation and the atmosphere. She analyses tree growth rings and apply Dynamic Vegetation Models (e.g. LPJ-GUESS model) to achieve her research objectives. She also develops below and above ground biomass models and assesses forest carbon. Justine uses various software programmes in her research activities including the LINTAB software, application of dynamic vegetation models, R modelling software, Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and ArcGIS. Further, Justine is capable of analysing climate-change data from state-of-the-art Global Circulation Models to construct climate-change scenarios. Currently, Justine is working on a project to assess tree species diversity and determine the carbon stock accumulation by trees in the vicinity of copper smelters in Zambia. She is further determining the vulnerability of these trees to climate change.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Dendrochronology

Forest carbon evaluation

Biomass model development

Interaction between vegetation and the climate

PUBLICATIONS

See Google Scholar

https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=Degq3m4AAAAJ&hl=en

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION PhD in Environmental Sciences, Wageningen Unversity, Netherlands MSc in Environmental Sciences, Linköping University, Sweden BSc in Forestry, Copperbelt University, Zambia ACCA Strategic professional, Distance.
