PROGRAM COORDINATOR – DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING in the DIRECTORATE OF DISTANCE EDUCATION AND OPEN LEARNING:

Job Purpose

To coordinate academic programs and student research in the Directorate of Distance Education and Open Learning of the Copperbelt University.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Produce high quality academic modules that motivate learning for online and

  offline learning

  • Coordinate the residential school for distance learners
  • Design and conduct short courses on demand for industry
  • Review and improve curriculum in consultation with other units of the

  University

  • Source field and industrial placements for students
  • Coordinate students’ projects and presentations
  • Coordinate online and offline assessments and examinations
  • Conduct research and teaching
  • Carry out additional tasks as and when required by the Director

Qualifications

  • Full Grade 12 ‘O’ Level Certificate with five (5) Credits with English and 

  Mathematics

  • Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Science with

        Education, or Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with Education

  • Master of Science, Master of Engineering, Master of Science with

        Education, or Master of Science in Mathematics with Education

  • PhD degree in a relevant field is an added advantage
  • Minimum of three years experience in a similar position

 Required Skills and Behavioral Attributes

  •  Applicant should have demonstrated experience in teaching, proven

research and publication background.

  •  Strong commitment to teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Strong networking skills with relevant industry will be required
  • Competence in e-learning facilities is a must
  • Competence in the use of Open Education Resources (OERs)
  • Marketing skills is an added advantage
