The University hereby invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for appointment to the following positions.

PROFESSORS/SENIOR LECTURERS/LECTURERS

 

Job Purpose

Performing teaching duties at undergraduate and graduate levels: undertaking original individual and collaborative research leading to significant advances in their field and publication in national or international refereed journals and collaboration with peers in other universities and academic institutions: Keeping abreast of recent advances in the field, involvement in curriculum and programme development as well as involvement in community service in the area of specialisation. Supervise students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and Participation in tutoring and mentoring activities: Setting and assessment of exam papers and assessing portfolio of evidence.   Involvement in departmental research and publications: Assist with administrative duties in the department and /or school.

 

  1. SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING

Teaching Positions (Professors/ Senior Lecturers/Lecturers) at any of the levels listed below in the School of Engineering. These positions are for the newly established campus in Mpika, Muchinga Province.

 

Department of Mechanical Engineering (Mpika Campus)

Railway Engineering

  • Railway Systems Design and Technology          (01 Position)
  • Material Sciences and Manufacturing (01 Position)
  • Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics (01 Position)
  • Engineering Mathematics (01 Position)
  • Electrical engineering (High current)             (01 Position)

 

          Qualifications and experience required for Position of Lecturer:

  • Grade 12 or Form V Certificate with Five 5 ‘O’ level Credits or better including        English Language and Mathematics.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in the applicable field (Bachelor of Electromechanical as first degree will be added advantage)
  • Masters degree in a similar field.
  • PhD in relevant field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant practical experience.
  • Must show proof of active membership and Registration with a Professional body in Zambia.

 

Qualifications and experience required for Professorial and Senior Lecturer Positions:

  • A PhD in relevant field.
  • Show high levels of expertise with regards to leadership development.
  • Registered with a professional body.
  • Teaching/training leadership development/leadership coaching experience at a reputable higher education institution, locally or internationally.
  • Proof of researched supervisory experience
  • Published articles in accredited, peer-reviewed journals

Required Competencies and Behavioral Attributes:

Job Purpose:

1.1       Qualifications and experience required for Professorial and Senior Lecturer Position

  • Grade 12 or Form V Certificate with Five 5 ‘O’ level Credits or better including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (or equivalent) from a recognised University.
  • Master’s Degree in Accounting (or equivalent) from a recognised University.
  • PhD in Accounting, Finance or a closely related discipline from a recognised University.
  • Minimum of Five (5) years relevant practical experience.
  • A Professional Accounting qualification will be added advantage.

Required Competencies and Behavioral Attributes:

  • Be able to conduct high quality research with potential to create impact, secure research funding from local and international funders and exercise leadership roles.
  • Ability and willingness to teach, supervise, and assess the students at under graduate and graduate levels, ability and willingness to work as part of a team and to contribute fully to the work of the department.
  • Capacity to deliver outstanding teaching across a range of programmes and contribute to the administration of the school.
  • Track record of internationally excellent publications or the potential to produce high-quality publications in peer reviewed academic journals.

 

1.2       Qualifications and experience required for Lecturer Position

  • Grade 12 or Form V Certificate with Five 5 ‘O’ level Credits or better including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (or equivalent) from a recognised University.
  • Master’s Degree in Accounting (or equivalent) from a recognised University.
  • Minimum of Three (3) years relevant practical experience.
  • A Professional Accounting qualification will be added advantage.

Required Competencies and Behavioral Attributes:

  • Be able to conduct research, conduct teaching across a range of programmes, supervise and assess students at undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Ability and willingness to work as part of a team and contribute fully to the work of the department.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills necessary for undertaking teaching of students.

  

  1. PROCUREMENT DEPARTMENT

Procurement Assistant

 

Job Purpose

Under the Direct Supervision of the Procurement Manager, the position is responsible for performing administrative and clerical duties relating to organising and coordinating procurement activities and obtaining price quotations. To organise all procurement activities relating to request or proposals, sealed bids and price quotes; Review requisitions for completeness and accuracy, making follow ups on discrepancies with the initial department/school and identify available suppliers for each requisitioned. Organize and maintain computerised records containing vendor and bid information; Process requisitions into purchase orders and any resulting change orders; Receive, open, screen and date stamp bids, bid responses/quotations, mail as required and organised bids for review by the procurement manager. Perform general clerical duties such as maintaining general files, data entry, opening mail and completing and processing standards purchasing forms; Coordinating and schedule meetings and appointments as requested and respond  to inquiries which do not require  the personal attention of the procurement manager.

Qualifications and experience required

  • Grade 12 or Form V Certificate with Five 5 ‘O’ level Credits or better including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Advanced Certificate in Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supplies.
  • Atleast two (2) years practical work experience in the industry and should posses sound knowledge in local and foreign purchasing supply methods including regulations and procedures governing procurement
