The Copperbelt University is a higher education institution with a mandate to teach and research so as to contribute to sustainable economic and social development of the nation and Africa as a whole.

Knowledge creation and dissemination is at the Centre of the Copperbelt University. Research – based evidence is needed by stakeholders for their diverse needs including policy formulation and business effectiveness and efficiency.


The objective of the School of Business Journal is to publish papers by academicians from the Copperbelt University (CBU) and from outside CBU. The journal aims to promote and facilitate holistic understanding of business so as to impact individuals, entrepreneurs, managers, policy makers, investors and the public at large. The ultimate goal is to enhance scholarship and impact managerial performance in businesses in both the public and private sectors by inspiring adoption of best practice in decision making, planning, operations and control.

Scholars at CBU, in the nation and beyond are encouraged to contribute to the Journal of the School of Business. We invite scholars, entrepreneurs, managers and policy makers to present empirical and theoretical research and articles to help generate debate of ideas, concepts, theories and develop intellectual capabilities. Accordingly papers are being invited on the following indicative themes but not exhaustive list of themes:

1.Innovation and Operations Management (IOM)

2. Governance, Finance and Performance Management (GFPM)

3. Economics and Finance Cluster (EF)

4. Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Strategy (EMS)

5. Accounting, Auditing, Accountability and Taxation (AAAT)

Paper formatting details

First page

Manuscript title and author(s) names, institutional affiliation(s),contact information

Second page

Manuscript title and brief (100 words maximum) biography of each of the authors

Third page

Manuscript title and brief (200 words) abstract of the paper

Fourth page

Research highlights

These are short bulleted items should state your research results, as specifically as possible, with succinct, important interpretations. Research highlights should not be a condensation of your paper’s abstract but should be framed as if for a press release

Fifth page and following manuscript title followed by the text of the paper

All references should be based on the Harvard System of Referencing.

The paper should be between 4000 and 5000 words in length and typed on A4 paper size, Times New Roma, 12 font size and should be double spaced.

Submission guidelines

Submissions are due not later than 31/03/2018. All papers submitted must represent original research not previously published elsewhere.

All submissions will be subject to in-depth review, and editorial decisions and revision requests will be communicated to authors by April 30, 2018.
